ELoy J Rojas

Eloy J. Rojas is a Venezuelan dancer, choreographer, teacher and coach whose work goes far beyond teaching steps. His career has been shaped by a continuous exploration of Latin American rhythms, body movement, technique and the cultural roots behind the dances.

Between 2008 and 2012, he completed his professional training in Ballroom, Latin rhythms, Afro-Latin and Caribbean dances in Caracas. After gaining further experience in Venezuela, he moved to Mexico City in 2014, where he founded his first dance school, Be Dancer.

In 2016, Eloy moved to Berlin and began developing his own approach to movement through research and continuous practice. His work became particularly known for his exploration of body movement, spins and turns, as well as his approach to challenging traditional gender roles through dance. His choreographic work has been presented at venues including Volksbühne Berlin.

In 2019, he founded EJR Studio and Ibere Dance Company. Three years later, he created From the Roots: It Is About Latin Rhythms, a research and educational project supported by Neustart Kultur, through which he developed a structured professional training concept for Latin American rhythms.

Today, Eloy combines teaching, performance, choreography and research. His classes explore not only technique and musicality, but also body awareness, history and the deeper structures behind Latin American dance.

For dancers who want to understand how and why the body moves, rather than simply learn another combination, Eloy brings a very different perspective to the festival.
